Root Canal Treatment in Spring, Texas

Root canal treatment is performed when a tooth has developed an inner infection of the root canal. The procedure will eliminate any infectious material and provide structure and strength for the damaged tooth. Root canal treatment is highly effective, and it helps restore an infected tooth to proper help. This is often the only way to save a tooth from otherwise certain extraction.

What Causes a Root Canal Infection?

A root canal infection occurs when a tooth develops a bacterial presence in its inner pulp and down through the root canal leading to the jawbone. These infections happen when the tough, exterior enamel that usually protects the teeth is unable to keep out harmful oral bacteria. This can occur due to a very deep cavity or an injury.

How is Root Canal Treatment Performed?

Root canal treatment is performed by using advanced dental equipment to access a tooth’s inner structure from the top. Any infectious material is cleaned out, essentially leaving the tooth a hollow structure. An antimicrobial liquid is applied, which flushes out the tooth all the way down to the root canal. We then use medicated fillings to restore the tooth’s structure and provide it with much-needed strength. To finish, a dental crown is used to restore the tooth’s natural appearance.

How Long Does Root Canal Treatment Take?

A root canal procedure itself can usually be completed in a single appointment, which should take less than two hours. However, we will only be able to apply a temporary dental crown following the procedure. The patient will need to return for a follow-up visit to receive a permanent, custom-made crown. It will normally take a couple of weeks for this permanent crown to be constructed in a dental lab.

Does Root Canal Treatment Hurt?

Any pain or discomfort associated with root canal treatment is kept to an absolute minimum. We use advanced techniques and sedation dentistry in order to minimize pain. Any sedation that is used will be discussed with the patient prior to the procedure. The patient may experience some relatively minor discomfort during the recovery process. This discomfort should be alleviated after the recovery period.

How Much Does Root Canal Treatment Cost?

We work to keep costs low so that root canal treatment is as affordable as possible and accessible to most of our patients. Our practice also offers financing options if needed to help patients pay for root canal treatment more easily.

Dr. Raina and his team are just wonderful. When we left them after my little girls' annual cleaning, my 7 yo girl said 'that was fun' :-) We couldn't ask for more.
